Well of Eternity: Hunter Walkthrough

One of the reasons I quit for a bit in 4.2 was the valor cap system. The troll heroics made me really sick. People aggroing Zandalaris Juggernauts, dying with the gas on Zalazane encounter, people that didn’t have a single idea how to defeat Jin’do, ranged leaving hatchers on the Jin’alai encounter go free and wiping ten times on Venoxis. I didn’t cap my valor points since 6 weeks before 4.3 came because the possibility of another “gogo bear” group was too high.

Patch 4.3 it’s another story. The “Hour of Twilight” instances are very well designed, fun, new and straightforward (with special mechanics). Lore is also a big factor on them as you will be on the main focus of Cataclysm and the history follows up on Dragon Soul raid! This guide will show some tips for your Well of Eternity runs, the second instance of the trio, that send you 10.000 years to the past, also how to smooth your way through the history.

Peroth’arn

The first thing you will see (if your computer is fast) is a giant satyr talking to a Felguard, then the latter casting a wall of flame and taunting people to kill him and advance, spread out a little to kill him. After that, Illidan will show up and give you a very interesting stealth buff that you will use to sneak and sabotage three fel crystals. The stealth make you invisible from anything outside the circle that will appear at your feet, If you cast anything you’ll lose it but, you will gain another one that increases damage by 50% and critical chance by 100%.

After you did the sabotage all the demons in the square leave the area and Illidan will guide the party to the center of it. Peroth’arn will then engage the group. As a hunter you need to avoid Fel Flames that appear under random players feet, luckily you can avoid them quickly so stay with AoTH. The first phase ends when the boss reach 60%, and trust me, that will be fast.

Second phase starts at 60%, Peroth’arn will cast Drain Essence stunning everybody for a few seconds then vanishing and sending out eyes to find you. It’s possible to not have anyone getting caught by the eyes but normally someone is gonna be caught and the boss will come after him (just try not to be you!). Then continue the fight as in phase 1.

Peroth’arn doesn’t have anything of notice for us.

Queen Azshara

Illidan will leave and then you will find yourself at the palace of the Queen “Light of lights” Azshara. There are 2 types of trash packs on the way, a warrior with two magis, and a some eyes like the ones in the fight with the satyr. CC one magi, burn the other, kill the warrior and kill the cc’ed magi. For the eyes simply AoE them. Near the end of the road there will be also two Royal Handmaidens that cast Sweet Lullaby, interrupt it!

You don’t actually fight Azshara herself but her mages. Starting she will “activate” two of them, you have to interrupt them as much as possible and get out of their aoe’s (Disengage plus Pothtaste work very well here). Marksmanship it’s the best spec here as you will change target continuously and you have to interrupt Total Obedience or is a wipe, also it’s better for killing quickly the Servant of the Queen (a little white hand, akin to Akil’zon encounter) that will mind control a random party member.

After all the six mages are dead Azshara will leave the place and the fight will over. The only loot from her worthy of mention is the Breastplate of the Queen’s Guard a nice chest piece with hit and mastery.

Mannoroth and Varo’then

Bronze drakes will appear and will carry you to see the Dragon Soul cutscene, talk to the drake you are mounted in to go to the ground again where Illidan and Tyrande will be waiting you. The first trash pack are some demons that need to be killed while you are in the moonlight with Tyrande, after that you fight a huge abbysal with Illidan (you need to be close to him to recieve Waters of Eternity). The last trash are two shadow bats and their riders, drop Explosive Trap and focus on the elfs when the bats become untargetable.

In the first phase of the fight the tank has to charge to Varo’then while Illidan tanks Mannoroth and Tyrande kills adds. Focus on Varo’then, Mannoroth periodically cast Fel Firestorm so the group have to move constantly for 12 sec (turn on AotF if you are taking to much damage). Two times per fight Tyrande will fall to the ground and leave a Moonlight, you need to AoE the demons inside the light (like the trash earlier), when rises from the ground continue to kill the elf captain.

Second phase starts when Varo’then dies and leave his sword on the ground, after someone right click it and throw it to Mannoroth he will take massive damage from attacks. He will continue to cast Fel Firestorm and a few moments later Inferno, after Tyrande destroy the rains of infernals Illidan will buff himself and the party with Gift of Sargeras and you basically won the fight. Continue to attack Mannoroth to 20% to “win” and claim your loot.

The pair drop Mannoroth’s Signet, Legguards of the Legion and Thornwood Staff. Varo’then it’s also the objective of http://www.wowhead.com/quest=30104 that gives Alurmi’s Ring.
