Cinnamohn has produced a guide to hunter soloing the Zandalari Warbringers after the recent hotfix that made the Warbringers immune to snare and interrupt effects.
Hunter Soloing the Zandalari Warbringers Post-Hotfix
– March 21, 2013
I’m soloing them with a different tactic, it’s a little more “dangerous” but requires less space and such is less likely to reset the Warbringer. Actually, it never resets this way.
BM, spirit beast specced as tank (!), Spirit mend on autocast (something I usually wouldn’t do), Growl on, Thunderstomp on (not neccessary, may attract neutral adds!). Mend pet should be up all the time of course.
Basically I’m just kiting when the Ghost add is there, throwing an Ice trap at the Warbringer’s position and set the pet on Passive. The ghost is affected by all cc. It’s extremely helpful to key/mousebind pet stances for this (I have Assist and Passive on Shift-Wheelup/Wheeldown which helps alot because I don’t have that huge hands for the default keybindings). Go to safe range (to the ghost), the pet too, and back to Assist. Except for the get-away-from-the-ghost-phase it’s basically just tank and spank, avoid the ground AOE (you, not the pet), don’t get hit by that things he throws… don’t remember the name, those “rocks”… aoe the small adds. Spirit mend on auto helps to smooth out if something goes wrong.
Forgot: constantly misdirect to pet (I think the Warbringer is immune to the growl “taunt” now)
works really well! as fast as done in SV before the hotfix. But for myself i had to take glyph of mend cuz my pet take so much dmg!
i’m actually 519 ilvl and my pet has 365k HP btw
Used to do it as SV pre-hotfix, too. Mend glyph, yes, I do a alot of solo stuff, so this is always included, whithout it the heal is a little too weak. Also have Spirit bond and the glyph. But it’s no gear race after all. I just have item level 398.
i’m using a similar strat but with hawk aspect. i just jump-disengage a lot. works like charm but for the occasional reset.
I’ve been soloing them regularly now and have a few suggestions. I do it as BM with a spirit beast tank so that BW can remove the pet fear plus for the extra heal. I found it important to turn OFF both Growl and Thunderstomp so that the summoned spirit doesn’t aggro onto my pet and kill it. Distracting Shot the Spirit into an Ice Trap as soon as it spawns. Use healing glyphs and talents as others have suggested.
The key for me was turning off Growl.
