Hunting Party Podcast: Episode 106 Recap

This week, we discuss the developer water cooler post about stat inflation, as well as some hunter PvP and whether Darkbrew should become the new developer for Serenity.

Hosts: Euripides, Darkbrew and Frostheim

Shout out to new hunter site – 3:40

WoWbiology101 is a new site written by a real life Zookeeper.  Lists all the animals and critters by taxonomy.

PTR News – 5:10

Background loader is now up for patch 4.3.  A sign that they are getting close to release.  Blizzard is likely done with Hunter changes for this patch so there will be no changes to minimum range in 4.3.

Developer Water Cooler and Mega-damage – 8:40

Ghostcrawler released another water cooler discussion this week on damage going forward into MoP.  Damage is outpacing player level.  The amount of item level inflation is way more in the end game then between expansion. The hosts discuss several possible solutions to increasing damage put forward by Blizzard (Mega-damage and end-level squish).  Then they discuss some ideas of their own.

Chatroom Q&A
This weeks questions are ranked based an opening line to your novel about your hunter

Q: With the removal of the melee slot do you think Blizzard will do anything to allow Hunters to still allow Hunters to equip rare items like Arcanite Reaper? 30:15

A: Likely no, but Hunters will need to be able equip things like fishing pools and quest items (like Brewfest mugs).

Q: Will Darkbrew save the Serenity addon? 40:00

A: No promises but he will look into it. The developer who has been developing it, has left WoW and is looking for someone to take over the development.

Q: What ideas should Blizzard steal from other games? – 45:00

A: Serious answer: two targets, friendly and unfriendly targets.  Silly answers: so many have already been done including Plants vs Zombies, Joust and Pokemon.  Perhaps Angry Birds.

Reader E-mails

Q: How will Piercing Shots be effected by the tier 13 four piece set bonus? – 47:50

A: Not much will change.  The value of haste may decrease or Hunters will dump focus with Aimed Shot. Piercing Shots will continue to be a better choice then Steady Shot.

Q:  Is there any way to block the hawk sound if you’ve got Aspect of the Hawk macro’d into a shot? – 52:15

A: Yes and the code will be posted to the show notes but this won’t help the others in your raid.
