Patch 5.0.5 is being applied to live realms today. Listed below are excerpts of special interest to hunters. The latest patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/
Hunter
All hunter aspects have been removed from the global cooldown, and they again share a 1 second category cooldown
Dragon Soul
Player pets should no longer experience pathing issues when attacking Deathwing’s Arm Tentacle.
Did the ES sting changes happen also even though they aren’t in the notes?
I would think not, since they were in the beta build and not in live notes.
(But I could always be mistaken.)
They did not fix this. Tonight on heroic madness I was randomly unable to use kill command/beastial wrath. What is so odd is that on the pull the I am able to use all my stuff then after readiness i am unable to use KC/BW sometimes but not all times. If you are unable to do this sometimes dismissing and resummoning your pet allows you to again use KC/BW
I had issues on heroic Madness tonight also. My pet went swimming in the maelstrom when I sent it to attack the tentacle. If I put it on passive it would return after a few seconds, then I could send it back in and KC, etc. worked fine until we moved to the next platform.
What was even more entertaining was watching my core hound fly through the air when I sent it to attack heroic Rags tonight… my guild got a chuckle out of it. I think it’s safe to say there are still a few pet pathing issues to be worked out.
I had a similar experience on heroic madness…my Kringer (Magria) seems to now be able to fly on that fight. Though my corehound had almost no issues with abilities, he did wonder about kind of crazily during tentacle dps but it didn’t appear to affect his damage.
I’ve also been pvping a LOT lately (if you haven’t been in the battlegrounds as BM since the patch i sincerely urge you to go wreak some havoc, the current incarnation of BM is by far the most powerful pvp spec hunters have ever had). Pets have a number of pathing issues in pvp as well. Lock pets seem to path better than ours but I can’t confirm that for sure. I have found that adding the /petattack line in all of your shot macros for pvp and pve does help alleviate a lot of the pathing issues, it seems it helps give the server a wake up call as to what the pet should be doing, also helps with fast target switching. The assist pet stance is still buggy as hell as well, and the /petattack line alleviates that problem. For pvp i’d also suggest having pet passive on a hotkey so you can pull your pet back if he overextends.
Also had problems on H madness, As soon as I went to swap off the arm tentacle on first platform, he went missing, ended up finally getting him back where he should be, then no KC… just autos.
I seemed to have the problem sorted by changing pets, but that was after we swapped platforms. The speed of the bloods in P2 is a joke now, but I guess the nerf doesnt exactly make the fight hard..
Can confirm this is bugged on heroic Deathwing as well. The bug error seems to occur more often when going from the corruption to the parasite or from anything straight onto the wing. Dismissing and resummoning the pet definitely fixed the issue.
As for the prior poster’s comments on BM in PVP post-patch 5.0.4. To be honest, BM actually feels weaker than MM did last season for pvp. The skill cap certainly feels lower, which combined with the pet pathing issues, make the class easier to shut down. Sure it’s fun to see the big red kitty (ahem, spirit crab), however, I much rather prefer the more elegant playstyle of MM last season and its stronger kiting capability. Expertise, no concussive shot glyph, no entrapment, no pet feared to decimate your dps, longer readiness? Sorry, the hunter skill cap just took a dive off of the noob tree. I just saw a rogue dodge (without evasion) a concussive shot, scatter shot, and intimidation in a row during a bg. Sorry, hunters are worse than they were last season for PVP.
Glad to hear that.
