World first solo (hunter): CaribaLd vs Festergut (10 man heroic)

CaribaLd: While heroic Festergut at first sight doesn’t have that high of a health pool for a 5 minute enrage, several factors will decrease one’s dps a lot.

First, you basically have to keep Mend Pet up constantly after he consumes the first third of the blight.

Second, he casts Vile Gas which disorients you for about 5 seconds each time, so that obviously adds up to a lot of lost dps time.

Third, he stacks Gastric Bloat, which explodes its target on 10 stacks, so you have to swap pets. However, Gastric Bloat also increases damage done by 10% per stack, so that’s how you beat the enrage. You can Distracting Shot Festergut and take the stack instead of your pet getting it in order to do higher dps.

Distracting Shot is on diminishing returns on Festergut however, so the duration will be lower each consecutive time you do it, until a certain amount of time has passed since you did it last time (20 seconds or so?). The way I get stack is as follows:

- Pull the boss without Misdirection and take the first stack
- When he’s doing the next stack you will be disoriented, so let the pet have it
- Distracting Shot the boss before he does it again, and Intervene with pet. Kite boss and take the hit during the end of your Distracting Shot, since Feign isn’t ready.
- Distracting Shot again with a Deterrence – Gastric Bloat goes through Deterrence but melee does not.

So, the order of the first four Gastric Bloats is: You, pet, you, you.

You now have three stacks and you’ll want to use cooldowns. At some point, at least 30 seconds before Pungent Blight, you’ll want to refresh the timer on the stack. Try waiting for a Vile Gas, then cast Distracting Shot with an Intervene and Feign Death immediately when you get the stack.

About the time he does Pungent Blight your pet should be getting close to 10 stacks (between 7 and 9). Swap pets around this time, preferably during his Pungent Blight cast. Do a Last Stand+Intervene at the end of the Dismiss cast and summon a new turtle. Misdirect the new turtle while kiting. When your pet scales up to its real hp, take a hit (and a Gastric Bloat stack) and Feign Death. Now you’ve basically reset the fight, although depending on the timing you might not have a Vile Gas (it’s not always the same).

Distracting Shot + Intervene (it’s ready because you’re using a different turtle) while you kite until the end of the duration, then take the hit. Distracting Shot again when Gastric Bloat is about to happen and Deterrence. Feign Death. Get 8th stack same way as 4th: Intervene + kite at least 30 seconds before Pungent Blight, then use cooldowns when they are up. You can take a 9th stack when swapping pets again, or if your pet isn’t high up on stacks (if you waited until pet had 9 before swapping and you have 8 yourself) you can try and nuke him down (you don’t die from the pet exploding, but you do from an enraged melee hit).

As you can see my pet explodes after the enrage (or it might have died to a melee hit), but I got an Intervene off with Last Stand. That is how I managed to survive for so long with enrage-enhanced aoe damaging me.
