Morynne at Marks-365: If you’ve been raiding for awhile, you’ve heard the term pre-potting. What does it mean? Well, it means you chug a class-appropriate potion right before the pull, so you can get a second potion during the fight.
Here’s how I do it. Read Full Article
I usually pre pop a call of the wild and dissmiss my pet and summon the other one right before fights starts gives me a good 10 second with that extra attack power. Having the new pet up I still have that extra call of the wild that I pop at the right time to optimize cooldowns.
I was just going to say the same. The right order is key, here’s how I’m doing it:
-10s: MD the tank
-5s: Cast COTW and instantly release the pet
-2s: Call other pet (ferocity, ideally)
-1s: Chug a pot
- pull -
don’t forget to cast the 2nd CotW as soon as the 1st is over. you might want to wait for your trinkets to proc (mostly 45s) or until BW is up, but only do that if you *know* how many CotW’s you can fit in a fight and you’re *sure* you don’t lose any.
This results in a massive burst, especially when Ancient Hysteria is cast right at the beginning. I overtake the MM hunter as BM for the time BW is up, and he has a harder time to catch up after that because I benefit much more from 10% AP than he does.
Pre-COTWing costs nothing, so the hassle is worth before every pull. It still doesn’t make sense at Beth’tilacs of course. You might have the opportunity to swap pets mid-fight if you’ve got a little downtime.
